Located in the heart of the town of Daruvar, one of the most charming small towns in continental Croatia, Daruvarske Toplice represents the perfect blend of natural resources, historical heritage and modern health services. This unique health and recreation center is located at the springs of healing thermal water and mineral mud, surrounded by a beautiful park of monumental and horticultural value.

The thermal mineral water of Daruvar has always been used for healing and rehabilitation. The first to use it were the Illyrian tribe of Jasi, while the Romans turned the springs into real spas (“Aquae Balissae”). These springs were used for healing and relaxation, and their healing properties were so highly valued that they were visited by Roman emperors such as Hadrian and Constantine the Great. The Romans attributed the positive and healing effects of the thermal water to the powers of their deities, Silvanus, Diana and Sol, to whom they vowed to preserve their health. The writings of that time show that they already used hot, warm and cold baths and special rooms for sweating and massage. There were also larger communal pools that were used mainly by soldiers for rest and recovery.

Later, in the 18th century, Count Antun Janković initiated the construction of new water reservoirs, pools and buildings, which began the modern development of this health resort.
